Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies tied the record for the most wins by a single film (formerly held by Gully Boy) with a historic sweep of 13 awards.
It serves as a reminder of why independent filmmaking is so vital to Bollywood.
Record Breaking and Spotlight Sharing:
Outstanding Acting Achievements Alia Bhatt broke the record for the most Best Actress Filmfare wins (beating out such greats as Nutan and Kajol) and added another feather to her already crowded cap by winning Best Actress for her powerful performance in Jigra.

On the men’s side, Abhishek Bachchan’s subtle performance in I Want to Talk and Kartik Aaryan’s motivational Chandu Champion shared the rare Best Actor in a Leading Role award.
