Yash has made a roaring return to the big screen with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.
The Geetu Mohandas directorial opened on August 26, 2026, and delivered one of the biggest starts of the year despite receiving mixed-to-negative reviews, particularly around its writing and pacing.
The film’s massive opening has once again underlined Yash’s extraordinary box-office pull, with audiences turning up in huge numbers for the star’s first major release after KGF: Chapter 2. Its release across Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and English has also helped establish the film as a true pan-India release.
Toxic Box Office Collection Day 1:
As per the Sacnilk estimates provided, Toxic collected ₹101.10 crore nett in India on Day 1. Its India gross stands at approximately ₹120.75 crore, while the overseas markets contributed around ₹20 crore.

The film reportedly played across approximately 24,579 shows, registering an overall occupancy of around 56.1%.
Hindi Version Leads The Charge
One of the biggest talking points from the opening is the performance of Toxic in the Hindi market.
The Hindi version is estimated to have contributed around ₹55 crore nett, making it the film’s biggest language contributor. This is another strong indication of Yash’s ability to pull audiences beyond his traditional Kannada market.
Kannada followed with approximately ₹23.30 crore nett, while Telugu contributed around ₹11–16 crore. Tamil added roughly ₹5.50 crore, with Malayalam contributing around ₹1.30 crore.
Karnataka remained the film’s strongest Southern territory at around ₹30.50 crore, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed approximately ₹18.50 crore.
Yash Scores Another ₹100 Crore+ Opening
With ₹101.10 crore nett on Day 1, Toxic becomes Yash’s second film to cross the ₹100 crore nett mark on its opening day, following KGF: Chapter 2, which opened at around ₹116 crore nett.
The film is also listed as the second-highest Indian opener of 2026 so far, behind Dhurandhar 2 at approximately ₹103 crore nett.
Toxic has further moved past the reported opening-day India collections of several major Indian blockbusters, including Kalki 2898 AD, Salaar, Adipurush, Devara and Jawan.
Its worldwide opening of around ₹140.75 crore also puts it ahead of the reported Day 1 worldwide figures of Jawan, Animal, Adipurush and Pathaan, although it remains behind KGF: Chapter 2, Pushpa 2 and RRR.
Can Toxic Maintain The Momentum?
The ₹100 crore-plus opening is undoubtedly huge, but the bigger challenge begins now.
Toxic exceeded pre-release expectations, which had reportedly placed its opening in the ₹80–85 crore nett range. However, mixed word of mouth and indications of softer advance bookings for Day 2 could affect its trajectory.
The weekend will therefore be crucial. A strong hold over the next few days could transform the film’s gigantic opening into a major theatrical success, while a sharp drop would put greater pressure on its long-term box-office run.
As an expensive A-rated action drama, Toxic needs sustained collections rather than simply a record opening.
For now, though, Yash has once again proved his box-office power. Toxic has started its theatrical journey with a staggering ₹101.10 crore nett in India and a reported ₹140.75 crore worldwide Day 1. The question now is whether it can maintain the momentum and turn this explosive start into another major success for the Rocking Star.
