Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Welcome To The Jungle doesn’t pretend to be a film driven by logic or realism.
Instead, it embraces the spirit of classic Bollywood entertainers, offering nearly three hours of slapstick comedy, over-the-top action, meta humour and nostalgic references.
Read our Welcome To The Jungle Review to find out whether Akshay Kumar’s comedy entertainer lives up to expectations.
Here’s our verdict on the performances, story, humour, direction, and overall entertainment value.
Welcome To The Jungle Review:
The film is packed with spoofs of iconic movies including Sholay, Jawan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Dhurandhar and several other Bollywood blockbusters.
Every few minutes, there’s either a parody, a one-liner or a visual gag designed to keep audiences entertained.
Rather than reinventing the Welcome franchise, the film expands its signature brand of chaos with a much larger canvas and an even bigger ensemble.
Direction: Ahmed Khan Successfully Handles A Massive Ensemble
One of the film’s biggest achievements is director Ahmed Khan’s ability to manage such an enormous cast without letting the narrative completely fall apart.
Balancing multiple comic tracks, action sequences, songs and dozens of characters is no easy task.
While the screenplay occasionally feels overcrowded, Ahmed keeps the energy alive for most of the runtime and ensures the film rarely loses its entertaining tone.
The first half is considerably stronger, while the post-interval portions become slightly stretched as the film attempts to juggle too many subplots.
Performances: Akshay Kumar Leads From The Front
Akshay Kumar once again proves why he remains one of Bollywood’s finest comic actors.
We can see OG Akshay style comedy in some scenes where theatres will erupt laughing genuinely!
His impeccable timing, effortless expressions and ability to embrace absurd situations make him the backbone of the film.
Among the supporting cast, Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi are consistently entertaining, while Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever, and Shreyas Talpade contribute several genuinely funny moments throughout the film.
The sequences featuring Raveena Tandon, Farida Jalal, and Kiran Kumar stand out as some of the most enjoyable portions, adding both nostalgia and humour.
Meanwhile, Jackie Shroff makes a solid impression as the antagonist despite limited screen time.
Disha Patani And Jacqueline Fernandez Have Limited Scope
Although Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez add glamour to the film, their characters are largely underwritten.
Apart from songs and a handful of comic moments, both actresses don’t receive enough material to leave a lasting impact.
Technical Aspects: Grand Scale And Colourful Presentation
From a technical standpoint, Welcome To The Jungle scores well.
The production values are impressive, with vibrant cinematography, lavish set pieces, colourful costumes and picturesque locations adding to the film’s visual appeal.
The soundtrack is a mixed bag. While some songs blend well into the narrative and enhance the overall entertainment factor, others don’t leave a strong impression.
What Works
- Akshay Kumar’s outstanding comic timing
- Frequent laugh-out-loud moments
- Meta references and Bollywood parodies
- Strong performances from the supporting cast
- Grand visuals and family-friendly entertainment
- Nostalgic Welcome franchise vibe
What Doesn’t Work
- The screenplay becomes overstuffed after the interval.
- Some jokes don’t land as effectively as intended.
- Several supporting characters receive limited development.
- The runtime could have been tighter by 15–20 minutes.
Welcome To The Jungle is unapologetically old-school commercial cinema. It doesn’t aim to deliver realism or emotionally layered storytelling.
Instead, it focuses entirely on providing a fun-filled theatrical experience packed with comedy, nostalgia and larger-than-life entertainment.
While the second half loses some momentum due to its stretched narrative, the film succeeds where it matters most—it keeps audiences smiling.
If you’re looking for a light-hearted family entertainer that celebrates classic Bollywood masala with plenty of laughs, Welcome To The Jungle is worth the ticket.
