According to a source close to the production, the plan has always been a genuine day-and-date global release, with the film opening in most markets worldwide simultaneously on November 6.
Betting Against Convention, On Purpose
Releasing two days ahead of Diwali itself is a notable departure from how big Hindi releases usually time their festival launches.
The days immediately before Diwali are traditionally considered a weaker box office window, with most major releases preferring to open on or right after the festival to capture holiday footfall.
But the source suggested the makers are treating Ramayana as the exception to that rule entirely, citing the sheer scale of buzz around the project as reason enough to open early and let momentum carry it straight through the festival weekend.
The framing here is telling: from November 9 onward, once Diwali holiday footfall kicks in on top of whatever opening momentum the film has already built, expectations are for the numbers to climb even further.
The Deals Stacking Up Behind This Release
This date confirmation lands on the back of a string of major agreements already locked in for the film.
Dharma Productions holds India distribution rights, Sony Pictures secured the overseas distribution deal, and T-Series bagged the music rights for both parts in a record Rs 75 crore advance, confirmed just last week.
Every major business decision around Ramayana so far has been reported as a record or a first for Indian cinema, and this release date announcement continues that pattern.

Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, with music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
