According to reports cited by Economic Times, Prime Video has emerged as the film’s streaming destination, with the platform reportedly indicated through the film’s opening credits. However, Amazon Prime Video has not yet officially announced the premiere date. 

What is Awarapan 2 about?

The sequel brings back Shivam Pandit, played by Emraan Hashmi, but his life has changed considerably since the first film.

Shivam is now living a quieter life while looking after his adopted daughter Aaliyah. His world changes when Aaliyah and other children are kidnapped, forcing him back into a dangerous criminal network.

His search takes him to Bangkok, where he goes undercover and becomes involved with a child-trafficking operation controlled by drug lord Zorawar.

During the mission, Shivam encounters Zara, played by Disha Patani, who is Zorawar’s sister. The story then follows Shivam’s attempt to rescue Aaliyah and the other children while confronting the criminal world he had once tried to leave behind. 

The supporting cast includes Suvinder Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, Aniruddh Rawal, Atul Kumar, Rukhsar Rehman, Jukgrid Kamdee, Barun Chanda and Richa Jain.

Nitin Kakkar has directed the sequel, while Bilal Siddiqui and Sanjay Masoom have worked on the screenplay and writing.

Vishnu Rao is the cinematographer, while Devendra Murdeshwar has handled the editing. The soundtrack features music from composers including Mithoon, Amaal Mallik, Jeet Gannguli, Akhil Sachdeva and Wasif Ahmad. 

Awarapan 2 box office performance

Awarapan 2 opened strongly at the box office after arriving in cinemas on August 14.

According to the Economic Times report, the film collected approximately ₹22 crore on its opening day, followed by ₹33.75 crore on Saturday and ₹26 crore on Sunday. It then recorded ₹9.25 crore on Monday and ₹9.75 crore on Tuesday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reportedly put the film’s four-day India net at ₹94.37 crore.

The performance also put Awarapan 2 on course to become Emraan Hashmi’s first solo ₹100 crore grosser, according to the report.

The original Awarapan was released in 2007 and did not make a major theatrical impact at the time.
