Ramayana has finally begun its musical journey with Jai Jai Ram, the first song from Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited epic.
Released on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the track brings together AR Rahman, Dr Kumar Vishwas, Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal for a devotional offering centred on Lord Ram.
Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ramayana is scheduled to arrive in cinemas during Diwali 2026.

That decision works.
The song has the quality of a prayer that slowly grows in scale. There is a clear attempt to retain intimacy even when the orchestration becomes larger. It doesn’t feel like a conventional Bollywood introduction song designed primarily to create instant mass appeal.
Instead, the emphasis is on devotion, atmosphere and emotion.
That approach is also consistent with the makers’ stated intention behind the track — to capture the spiritual relationship between Ram and his devotees rather than simply describe the character of Lord Ram.
Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal elevate the track
The biggest strength of Jai Jai Ram is undoubtedly its vocals.
Shreya Ghoshal brings the required serenity and devotional warmth to the track. Her portions have a natural spiritual quality and arguably provide some of the song’s most memorable moments.
Arijit Singh, meanwhile, brings his familiar depth and emotional texture. His voice gives the song a more contemporary cinematic character, although his portions may not have the same devotional impact as Shreya’s.
Together, the two singers create a strong vocal combination.
If there is one section of the song that immediately stays with you, it is the refrain built around “Ram Siya Ram, Siya Ram Jai Jai Ram.” The simplicity of those words does much of the emotional heavy lifting.
Netizens are largely impressed
The initial social-media response has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding the visuals.
Fans have praised the apparent improvement in VFX, set design and cinematography, while many have highlighted Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals and the emotional presence of Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi.
Comments describing the song as “pure magic”, “goosebumps” and “divine” have been common, while others have specifically appreciated what they see as a more refined visual presentation.
That said, the reaction isn’t universally positive. Some listeners feel the composition lacks the spiritual intensity of other recent devotional film songs, while others have questioned the modern musical treatment and certain lyrical choices.
Final verdict
Jai Jai Ram is a good beginning, but not yet the definitive devotional anthem many were expecting from Ramayana.
AR Rahman’s music, Shreya Ghoshal’s vocals and the improved visuals give the song genuine emotional weight. The track understands that Ramayana doesn’t need to be introduced with noise or spectacle; sometimes, simply invoking Ram’s name can be enough.
But the song also plays it relatively safe.
Its biggest strength is its sincerity. Its biggest weakness is its lack of musical surprise.
As the first musical glimpse into Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, however, Jai Jai Ram accomplishes something important: it establishes a reverent emotional atmosphere and, perhaps even more significantly, gives audiences a more encouraging look at the film’s visual world.
