The Premise: Ranjeet’s Death and the Inheritance Game
The story begins with Ranjeet Dobriyal, a billionaire with a net worth of £69 billion, who dies peacefully just one day before his grand 100th birthday bash.
But his death is kept a secret by his stepson Dev (played by Fardeen Khan) to ensure the extravagant celebration isn’t ruined.
Things go haywire when a hologram of Ranjeet suddenly appears and announces that his entire fortune will be passed down — but only to his first-born son (Jolly) from his first wife.
And that’s when the real comedy of errors begins.
The Jolly Chaos: Who’s the Real Heir?
Enter the three Jollys:
- Jalabuddin aka Jolly 1 (Riteish Deshmukh)
- Jalbhushan aka Jolly 2 (Abhishek Bachchan)
- Julius aka Jolly 3 (Akshay Kumar)
All three men claim to be Ranjeet’s rightful heir. The problem?
None of them are actually his son — but the fortune is too tempting to walk away from.
Dev, wanting to get to the bottom of things, organizes a DNA test on a luxury cruise, and all three Jollys agree to participate — even though they know the truth about themselves.
Party, Drinks… and a Foggy Morning
While the DNA samples are collected, a deck party sets the scene for the next twist.
In classic Housefull style, Aakhri Pasta (Chunky Panday) tries to spike Batuk Patel’s (Johnny Lever) drink, but instead, all three Jollys accidentally drink the spiked beverages.
Result? They wake up with no memory of the previous night.

But while they were out cold, things got a lot more serious than just drunk dancing and karaoke.
Murder on the Cruise: Who Killed the Doctor?
It turns out that Maya (played by Chitrangda Singh), who is part of Ranjeet’s team, had been secretly trying to tamper with the DNA samples.
She was hoping to manipulate the results in her favor and grab the inheritance herself.
But she gets caught in the act by Dr. Amar Joshi, the man in charge of the test.
Panicking, Maya shoves peanut butter biscuits into his mouth, knowing he has a severe allergy.
Before things go south, Jolly 3 (Akshay Kumar) rushes in and manages to save the doctor with an injection.
Just when you think the crisis is averted — boom!
Maya stabs the doctor once Jolly 3 leaves, finishing what she started.
But little does she know, Captain Sameer (Nikitin Dheer) saw everything.
Twists, Suspects, and Investigation Begins
As expected, chaos breaks out on the cruise. With the doctor’s death, suspicion falls on:
- The three Jollys
- Their respective partners (played by Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri)
- Dev and other members from Ranjeet’s circle
- Even the captain, Sameer himself
Enter the unlikely police duo — Bhidu (Sanjay Dutt) and Baba (Jackie Shroff).
These ex-cops take charge of the case and start grilling everyone on board.
Meanwhile, Sameer, despite being a witness, doesn’t reveal what he saw immediately.
He’s too scared, worried that he himself is also a suspect due to his past and presence at the scene.
The Big Reveal: Maya’s Motive and Final Blow
As things spiral, it’s revealed that Maya wasn’t working alone.
She eventually teams up with Jolly 2 (Abhishek Bachchan) in a final attempt to eliminate Captain Sameer, fearing he’d spill the truth.
But by now, all pieces fall into place.
Maya is exposed as the real murderer.
Her reason? A desperate need to repay massive debts — and the billionaire’s empire seemed like a golden ticket.
Final Verdict: A Housefull Ending With a Killer Twist
Housefull 5B takes the franchise’s signature over-the-top comedy and gives it a thrilling twist with a murder mystery layered over mistaken identities and inheritance greed.
With Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, and others delivering peak performances, this version adds more drama, suspense, and payoff than expected from a usual comedy.
So if you love chaos on cruises, laugh-out-loud moments, and a who-done-it puzzle with a Bollywood flair — Housefull 5B might just be the film for you.
