Raj Mandir isn’t just any theatre.
Opened in 1976, it’s one of India’s most storied single-screen cinemas, known for its distinctive ambience and sound quality, and it’s hosted numerous major launches over the years.
But there’s a more personal angle here too: it’s reportedly become something of a lucky venue for Sunny Deol specifically. He promoted Gadar – Ek Prem Katha’s re-release there ahead of Gadar 2 in 2023, and returned again to promote Jaat in 2025.
Both films performed well, and the pattern is clearly not lost on the actor or his team.
Fans and local media will get to attend the Jaipur reveal, with Sunny Deol and director Rajkumar Santoshi expected to be present in person.

This isn’t just another period drama, it’s Sunny Deol and Rajkumar Santoshi reuniting after a run of collaborations that includes Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak, films widely regarded as some of the defining performances of Deol’s career.

Batwara 1947 is backed by Aamir Khan Productions and stars an ensemble that includes Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, and Karan Deol, blending nostalgia with cross-generational appeal.
Based on Syed Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, the story follows a Muslim family migrating from Lucknow to Lahore during Partition, allotted a haveli vacated by a Hindu family, only to discover its elderly matriarch refuses to leave.
It’s an emotionally loaded premise, and the film is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 13.
