Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha has failed to deliver the expected Saturday jump at the box office.

After opening with ₹9.25 crore on Friday, the first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe managed only a marginal improvement on Day 2, indicating that mixed audience reception is affecting its theatrical run.

Alpha Box Office Collection Day 2 sees Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s YRF Spy Universe film earn around ₹8.67 crore on Saturday, taking its India nett total close to ₹18 crore.

Despite crossing the ₹17 crore mark in India, Alpha continues to trail every previous installment in the YRF Spy Universe by a considerable margin.

Day 1₹9.25 crore

The film is currently running in approximately 5,877 shows across India after opening in over 7,500 screens on Friday.

Saturday Growth Falls Short Of Expectations

Saturday collections generally witness a healthy jump due to increased weekend footfalls. However, Alpha managed only marginal growth compared to its opening day.

The muted trend suggests that the film’s mixed reviews and average word of mouth have impacted walk-in audiences, preventing the kind of weekend surge usually seen in big-budget franchise films.

Lowest Day 2 Collection In YRF Spy Universe

Alpha has now officially recorded the weakest second-day collection among all YRF Spy Universe films.

Day 2 Collections Of YRF Spy Universe Films

  • Pathaan – ₹70.50 crore
  • Tiger 3 – ₹59.25 crore
  • War 2 – ₹57.85 crore
  • Alpha – ₹8.67 crore*

The difference highlights the challenging start for the Shiv Rawail directorial despite the franchise’s strong brand value.

Better Than Jigra, But Below Franchise Standards

While Alpha has comfortably outperformed Alia Bhatt’s previous film Jigra in terms of overall collections, it remains significantly below expectations considering its scale, budget and YRF Spy Universe branding.

Trade analysts had expected the film to comfortably cross the ₹20–25 crore mark over its first two days, but the current total of ₹17.92 crore indicates a slower-than-anticipated start.

Sunday Becomes Crucial

With the opening weekend nearing its end, Sunday’s collections will be crucial in determining Alpha’s box office trajectory.

A strong jump could help the film post a respectable weekend total before the Monday test. However, another flat day would increase pressure on the weekdays, especially given the film’s reported high production cost.

For now, Alpha remains one of the weakest performers in the YRF Spy Universe, and its long-term theatrical run will depend heavily on audience word of mouth over the coming days.
