Ramayana Creates History With Biggest Bollywood Previews In North America

While Ramayana has delivered a strong opening in India, its overseas performance has also given the film a major record.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film grossed approximately US$2 million from its North American premiere previews, comprising around US$1.65 million from the United States and CAD 350,000 from Canada.

This makes Ramayana the biggest preview opener of all time for a Bollywood film in North America.

The film has also recorded a strong performance in individual markets:

  • United States: Approximately US$1.65 million from premiere previews, making it the biggest Bollywood opener in the market according to Pinkvilla.
  • Canada: Approximately CAD 350,000, making it the second-biggest Bollywood opening in the country, behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
  • Australia: Approximately AUD 500,000 on its debut day, making it the fourth-biggest opening for a Hindi film in the territory, behind Dhurandhar 2, Pathaan and Animal.

These numbers underline the strong response Ramayana has received from overseas audiences, particularly in North America.

The North American preview collection is separate from the film’s regular opening-day business and should not be added to India’s Day 1 figures without accounting for the different reporting periods. <Cite refs={[“turn815478search0”]}/>

Ramayana Day 1 Advance Booking: ₹143.50 Crore Worldwide Pre-Sales

Ramayana also recorded impressive advance bookings before its theatrical release.

According to Pinkvilla’s final advance booking report, the film closed its pre-sales at approximately ₹143.50 crore worldwide, with around ₹71 crore coming from India and ₹72.50 crore from overseas markets.

This placed Ramayana at No. 2 among the biggest advance bookings for a Bollywood film, behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which recorded more than ₹250 crore in advance sales for its opening weekend.

The United States was among the strongest overseas markets, contributing approximately US$4.40 million in weekend advance sales. Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and other European markets also registered substantial bookings.

The strong pre-sales helped build expectations around the film’s opening, and its North American premiere record has now added another major achievement to its box office journey. <Cite refs={[“turn815478search1″,”turn815478search2”]}/>

Ramayana Day 1 India Gross Collection: ₹77.50 Crore

Apart from its estimated ₹64.85 crore India net collection, Ramayana has recorded ₹77.50 crore in India gross collections on Day 1.

Sacnilk’s latest tracker lists the film across 25,148 shows, with an overall reported occupancy of 34.9%.

Box Office MetricDay 1 Collection

Overall Occupancy34.9%

These figures are based on Sacnilk’s latest available update. Final reported numbers may vary as box office data is consolidated.

Ramayana Worldwide Box Office Collection Day 1

Ramayana’s North American premiere performance has given it an excellent start in the international market. The film has grossed approximately US$2 million from its North American previews alone, according to Pinkvilla.

However, this figure represents the premiere previews and not the complete overseas Day 1 collection.

The film’s regular opening-day business across international territories will need to be added separately to calculate its full overseas and worldwide gross. A consolidated worldwide Day 1 total was not available in the latest Sacnilk update used for this report.

The North American record nevertheless establishes Ramayana as one of the biggest Bollywood theatrical launches in the territory. <Cite refs={[“turn815478search0″,”turn815478search4”]}/>
