The platform question is settled, even if the date isn’t.

Alpha, YRF’s first female-led entry in the Spy Universe, is confirmed to stream on Netflix once its theatrical run wraps up, with the platform having secured the digital rights for a significant sum even before the film hit theatres.

Alpha OTT Release and streaming platform is confirmed.

Here’s when Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s spy thriller is expected to arrive on Netflix after its theatrical run.

Alpha OTT Release: When It’s Expected To Arrive

No official streaming date has been announced yet, but the pattern is predictable.

Hindi films typically land on OTT six to eight weeks after their theatrical release, and with Alpha having opened in cinemas on July 3, that puts the expected Netflix premiere somewhere around late August 2026.

A Quick Recap Of Where Alpha Stands

The film hasn’t had the smoothest theatrical journey.

It opened with advance bookings under Rs 3 crore and a day 1 collection of around Rs 9 crore, making it the lowest opener in a franchise that includes Pathaan and the War and Tiger series.

Reviews have been mixed, with several critics and audiences pointing to Sharvari’s performance as the film’s standout, even as the overall response to the story leaned toward predictable.

One detail worth noting: Alpha has only released in Hindi, skipping a Telugu version, unlike War 2 which released in both.

That’s being read by some as a cautious call after War 2’s Telugu version underperformed. Whether dubbed versions eventually make it to Netflix alongside the Hindi original is still unclear.

The Story, For Anyone Who Skipped The Theatrical Run

Alpha follows Sita, played by Alia Bhatt, a highly trained assassin raised in isolation by Fateh Singh Lakhawat, played by Bobby Deol, as part of a covert programme built to create genetically enhanced super-soldiers.

When Sita uncovers the truth about her stolen childhood, she teams up with her long-lost sister Durga, played by Sharvari, to bring the programme down.

Anil Kapoor reprises his War 2 role, and the film also features a Hrithik Roshan cameo, with action sequences shot across Mumbai, Kashmir and Spain under a John Wick stunt trainer.

What To Watch For

Once Netflix locks in an exact date, expect it to move quickly given how much curiosity already exists around a second, less theatre-dependent viewing wave.

For now, late August remains the safest bet, and this is worth revisiting the moment an official date drops.
