The buzz around War 2 just got louder — and it’s not just because of the explosive action sequences or its Independence Day 2025 release date.

The real fireworks are happening off-screen, especially in the business department.

War 2 Telugu rights sold in a major deal as NTR Jr. joins profit-sharing.

Major developments are underway ahead of the film’s grand release on Independence Day 2025.

War 2 Telugu Rights: NTR Jr.’s Smart Deal: Salary + Profit Share

In a major move, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially sold the Telugu theatrical rights of War 2 to producer Naga Vamsi for a staggering ₹90 crores as per the Bollywood Hungama report.

That’s right — even before release, this action epic is turning into a blockbuster at the business end.

With this deal, YRF has recovered a significant chunk of the film’s ₹400 crore budget. But the story doesn’t end there.

As reported earlier, NTR Jr. is charging a whopping ₹70 crores as his acting fee, making him one of the highest-paid stars in the country.

But here’s where things get even more interesting: sources confirm that NTR Jr. and Naga Vamsi have struck a backend deal, allowing the actor to earn a share of the profits from the Telugu version’s theatrical run.

Given the sky-high expectations around War 2 and NTR Jr.’s pan-India appeal, this backend arrangement could easily push his total earnings past ₹100 crores, making him a serious power player not just on screen, but in the business of cinema too.

What About Hrithik Roshan?

Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his role as Kabir from War (2019), is also making bank — with a ₹50 crore upfront fee and a separate profit-sharing arrangement directly with YRF.

However, unlike NTR Jr., Hrithik’s deal does not include any share from the Telugu theatrical revenue.

That entire segment — every rupee earned beyond the ₹90 crore acquisition cost — will be split between NTR Jr. and Naga Vamsi.

It’s a masterstroke from both parties, especially considering the strong Telugu fanbase and box office potential.

Why This Deal Matters

In today’s cinema landscape, actors are no longer just performers; they’re stakeholders in their films.

Backend deals like these are rare in regional markets, but they reflect a growing trend — one where stars with massive draw (like NTR Jr.) leverage their popularity not just for upfront fees, but for long-term profits.

For YRF, this is a win-win.

They’ve offloaded risk and secured a guaranteed amount for the Telugu market.

For Naga Vamsi, it’s a bold investment that could yield massive returns. And for NTR Jr., it’s a legacy-building moment where art, star power, and business acumen collide.

The Bigger Picture

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is shaping up to be more than just a sequel — it’s a centerpiece of the YRF Spy Universe, which includes mega hits like Ek Tha Tiger, Pathaan, and Tiger 3.

With the action set to explode on August 14, 2025, expectations are sky-high.

And now, with this Telugu deal grabbing headlines, the spotlight is brighter than ever on War 2. It’s clear this film isn’t just going to entertain — it’s already reshaping how business is done in Indian cinema.
