Bollywood is a strange place where stars change overnight. Actors getting replaced or removed is a new norm these days, it seems. Sometimes, the actor is replaced because of professional issues or personal issues. Today in this article, we will list out the Bollywood actors/actresses who were replaced or removed in movies.
Bollywood Actors Who Got Replaced In Movies:
1. Tapsee Pannu(PATI, PATNI AUR WOH):
Versatile actress Tapsee Pannu was offered the role of Bhumi Pednekar in Pati, Patni Aur Woh. She said she was offered the role but then was replaced.
2. Arjun Kapoor(KABIR SINGH):
When Kabir Singh was in the initial stages, makers had Arjun Kapoor in mind but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga decided to cast Shahid Kapoor in the lead role. We think Shahid Kapoor is an apt choice for Kabir Singh.
3. Pankaj Tripathi(LAKSHYA):
Did you know, Pankaj Tripathi had a small role in Hrithik Roshan featured Lakshya. He was a small actor at that time. But when Pankaj saw the film with his family in his hometown, he was shocked to see that his role had been cut from the film.
4. Salman Khan(CHAK DE! INDIA):
It is just unimaginable to see anyone other than Shah Rukh Khan in Chak De! India. But initially, Salman Khan was offered the role of SRK. Aditya Chopra convinced Salman to do the film but Salman wanted to change the climax of the film. After that, Shah Rukh Khan was cast for the role. This film showcases SRK in never seen before avatar and is counted as one of the best roles of his career.
5. Radhika Apte(VICKY DONOR):
Before Yami Gautam, Radhika Apte was offered Vicky Donor. Makers had signed Radhika and told her to reduce some weight as the character demand. Radhika had loved the script but later on, makers decided to cast Yami Gautam in the lead role opposite Ayushmann. This movie was Yami Gautam’s debut film.
6. Aamir Khan(SWADES):
After the success of Lagaan, Ashutosh Gowariker offered Swades to Aamir Khan but he rejected the film. Aamir was preparing for Mangal Pandey at that time so he rejected Swades. Ashutosh then offered the film to Hrithik Roshan but Hrithik thought he was not suitable for that film. Later, the film was offered to Shah Rukh Khan. For the mahurat shot, Aamir Khan graced the film sets of Swades.
7. Govinda(JAGGA JASSOS):
Most probably everyone knows that Govinda had a small cameo role in Ranbir Kapoor featured Jagga Jasoos. Govinda had shot for this cameo in South Africa with Ranbir and Katrina Kaif. But later on, his role was chopped from the main film.
8. Shraddha Kapoor(SAINA):
When the film Saina was announced, Shraddha Kapoor was signed for the lead role. Also, the first look of the film was released with Shraddha Kapoor. She also has started prep for the film. But due to some health reasons, Shraddha took a one month break. After that, she signed Chhichhore as that film didn’t have any physical prep for her. Later on, she signed Street Dancer 3D instead of Saina. Later on, Parineeti Chopra was signed for Saina.
9. Bobby Deol(JAB WE MET):
After watching Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia’s Socha Na Tha, Bobby Deol wanted to work with Imtiaz Ali. Bobby Deol had called Imtiaz Ali and told him that he wants to work with him. Imtiaz then offered Jab We Met to him. Bobby Deol loved the script and brought producers on board for this film. Also, Bobby recommended Kareena Kapoor for the film. Later on, producers decided to not produce Jab We Met. But after some time, Bobby found out that the same production house is producing Jab We Met with Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Jab We Met became a hit at Box Office.
10. Harshvardhan Kapoor(ANDHADHUN):
Before Ayushmann Khurrana, Andhadhun was offered to Harshavardhan Kapoor. Due to creative differences between the lead actor and director Sriram Raghavan, the actor left the film. Also, Sriram wanted the lead actor to attend some workshops, which the actor refused to attend. After Harshvardhan, Ayushmann was offered the role and accepted it. Also, Ayushmann was ready to attend the workshops.
Dark comedy thriller Andhadhun became the hit and Ayushmann also received the National Award for this film. After this film, Ayushmann became the most successful and bankable star of Bollywood. The film also featured Tabu and Radhika Apte.
11. Hrithik Roshan(DIL CHAHTA HAI):
Before Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan was offered the role of Akash in Dil Chahta Hai. Hrithik went ahead and signed Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon instead. We wonder what made him take this strange decision!
12. Kartik Aaryan(DOSTANA 2):
Dostana 2 is a sequel to hit comedy Dostana featuring Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. Dharma Production’s Dostana 2 was initially offered to Kartik Aaryan. Kartik even had started shooting for the film. But after some time, lockdown happened. The film had been in production for 1 year. After some time, Kartik was removed from Dostana 2. Producers issued a statement that he has been replaced due to unprofessional behaviour.

13. Ranbir Kapoor(DIL DHADAKNE DO):
Ranveer Singh was not the first choice for Dil Dhadakne Do. Initially, director Zoya Akhtar offered the film to Ranbir Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor. Kareena was going to play the role of Priyanka Chopra in the film. However, due to some unknown reasons, Ranbir backed out from the film and Ranveer Singh replaced him. It would surely have been a treat to watch Ranbir – Kareena play siblings but it didn’t happen.
14. Ranbir Kapoor(GULLY BOY):
After Dil Dhadakne Do, Ranbir Kapoor was again offered the role for Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. But this time it was not for the lead role. Ranbir was offered the role of MC Sher. Ranbir refused the role as it was second lead and wanted to play Ranveer’s role. But Zoya already had signed Ranveer Singh for the lead role. Later on, Sidhant Chaturvedi played the role of MC Sher.
15. Kartik Aaryan( Red Chillies and Anand L Rai’s next)
After Dostana 2, Kartik Aaryan has also backed out from Red Chillies Entertainment’s next Freddy. Also according to rumours, Kartik has also been replaced from Anand L Rai’s next film. Official confirmation from producers has not been made yet.
