Viduthalai 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Vijay Sethupathi-Starrer Opens To ₹7 Crore, Surpasses Part 1

The much-anticipated sequel, Viduthalai Part 2, helmed by acclaimed director Vetrimaaran, made its theatrical debut on December 20, 2024.

Viduthalai 2 Box Office Collection Day 1 has surpassed part 1’s numbers!

The film opened to a solid ₹7 crore nett on its first day across India, surpassing the opening collections of its predecessor, which stood at ₹3.5 crore.

Released in Tamil and Telugu, the period action drama is expected to witness a steady rise over the weekend.

Viduthalai 2 Box Office Collection Day 1:

A PROMISING START

According to Sacnilk, Viduthalai Part 2 achieved a 38.5% Tamil occupancy on Friday, while its Telugu version recorded 19.79% occupancy.

With Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, and Manju Warrier leading the cast, the film has generated significant buzz.

Backed by RS Infotainment and Grass Root Film Company, it’s clear that the sequel is off to a stronger start than the original, signaling a successful theatrical run ahead.

THE LEGACY OF VIDUTHALAI

Viduthalai Part 2 picks up the narrative thread left dangling in Part 1, which released in March 2023.

While the first installment grossed ₹60 crore during its theatrical run, the sequel has been crafted on a larger canvas, with higher stakes and a bigger budget.

Notably, Viduthalai Part 1 is already available for streaming on ZEE5, and the sequel is slated for a digital release in January 2025.

A CHALLENGING PRODUCTION

Director Vetrimaaran has previously shared insights into the daunting challenges faced during the making of Viduthalai.

Originally projected at ₹4.5 crore, the budget ballooned to ₹65 crore due to unforeseen complications, including tough filming conditions in hilly terrains.

With 250 crew members living in tents atop a hill and battling severe storms, the production was a logistical feat in itself.

WHAT’S NEXT?

As audiences flock to theaters, industry experts predict that Viduthalai Part 2 will surpass its predecessor’s lifetime collection.

The film’s compelling performances, gripping storyline, and Vetrimaaran’s masterful direction are drawing viewers in droves.

With its first-day collections already doubling that of Part 1, the sequel is poised for a successful weekend and beyond.

Fans of Vijay Sethupathi and Tamil cinema can expect this revolutionary saga to leave a lasting impact, both on the box office and the audience’s hearts.
