After an unexpected hiatus, the highly anticipated vampire comedy Thama is finally back on track!

The film, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, had to pause production when Rashmika sustained a leg injury in January.

This led to an abrupt halt in the Delhi schedule, leaving fans eager for updates.

Now, after a break of over a month, director Aditya Sarpotdar has resumed filming in Mumbai, determined to wrap up production by May.

Thama Story Unfolds: A Love Story at the Heart of the Horror

While Thama has been described as a horror-comedy, it has now been revealed that the film carries an emotional core—a deeply moving love story.

The narrative unfolds across two timelines, blending historical intrigue with present-day thrills.

Ayushmann plays a historian based in Delhi, but the story takes audiences back in time to the grand kingdom of Vijayanagar, where an unfulfilled love story takes root.

“Through one of its central characters, Thama explores the theme of unrequited love,” shared a source close to the project.

“Though the film is packed with humor and supernatural elements, at its heart, it tells an emotional story that transcends time.”

Thama Shoot Update: A Race Against Time to Wrap Up Filming

Originally, Thama was set for a seamless shoot starting in January.

However, with Rashmika’s injury delaying progress, the team had to reshuffle its schedule.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays the film’s antagonist, was supposed to join the team in Ooty in February. But now, the entire shooting plan has been reworked to accommodate the delays.

A close source revealed, “The main cast, including Ayushmann and Paresh Rawal, are currently filming at real locations in Mumbai.

On March 27, the crew will shift to Film City, where specially designed sets replicating Delhi streets and houses have been built.

The scenes originally meant to be shot in Delhi will now be recreated here. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will join the cast at this stage.

The goal is to wrap up the Mumbai schedule by late April before heading to Ooty in May to film crucial sequences in the Nilgiri forest.”

The team is working at breakneck speed to meet deadlines, as the director is eyeing a grand Diwali 2025 release.

With horror comedies gaining immense popularity in recent years, Thama is expected to add another blockbuster to Dinesh Vijan’s ever-expanding horror-comedy universe.
