Drishyam 2 featuring Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Ishita Dutta was released on 18th November 2022. The film opened at Rs. 15.38 Crores on the first Friday. In the first week itself, the film collected Rs. 104 Crores at the domestic box office. On the second Friday, the film collected Rs. 7.87 Crores, and then on Saturday, it jumped to Rs. 14.05 Crores. Non-Availability Of Original In Hindi:

Post-pandemic, the box office scenario, and the choice of cine-goers have taken a 360-degree turn. The films which are south remakes are directly rejected by audiences. Be it Bachchan Pandey, Jersey, or Vikram Vedha. Meanwhile, Jersey and Vikram Vedha were acclaimed critically but didn’t find true success at Box Office as the originals were available on OTT or Youtube in the Hindi language. Drishyam 2 is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name released in 2021 on OTT. And, the original film is not available in the Hindi language.

Franchise Factor:

Drishyam was received very well when it had released in 2015. It was released in a month when Bahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan were ruling BO. Still, the first part found its share of the audience. Everyone loved the film and wanted to know what happened in the next part. 

Meme Culture:

Thanks to what happened on the 2nd and 3rd October memes, the film got a cult following. Every year on the 2nd of October, memes are flooded with references to Drishyam. That can also be a slight factor that resulted in awareness and opening of the second part at the Box Office. 

Performances:

Drishyam 2 has a stellar cast. Be it Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, or Tabu, these three members of the principal cast were mindblowing in their acts. Nobody better than Ajay Devgn could have pulled off the character of Vijay Salgaonkar. Akshaye Khanna as a cop did phenomenal acting. Tabu too shines in a small yet powerful act. Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutt, and Mrunal Jadhav too did a better job. 

Faithful Remake And Massy Story:

Abhishek Pathak stayed true to the story and adapted it very well to suit the Hindi audiences. There were some netizens who had watched the original Malayalam version and thought that the first half was slow as compared to the Hindi version.

Also, the Hindi version had more mass appeal as compared to the original. There was some dialoguebaazi and more style in the Hindi version as per some reviewers and netizens. 

Also, the story of the film is such that it is loved and applauded by everyone. Also, it was the second half and climax portions that brought cheers in theatres.
